COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Thousands flocked to Cocoa Beach Christmas Eve for a holiday tradition, Surfing Santas.

This is the 12th year surfers are suited up in Santa and other holiday outfits to hit the waves.

“I am really having fun catching a lot of waves, everybody is good spirits so many people, it was almost harder to getting through crowd than to get to the waves,” said surfer John Patton.

He said loves taking part in an event that goes towards such a good cause.

Proceeds from the Surfing Santa’s will go to Florida Surf Museum and the Grind for Life charity, founded by Mike Rogers which helps both children and adults.

 “It is a group that helps cancer patients pay for not expenses not covered by insurance and Mike Rogers is a two- time cancer survivor, and helps people dealing with cancer,” said one of the organizers of Surfing Santas, John Hughes.

Organizers believe this was the biggest one they have had with around 10,000 people.
