CLEARWATER, Fla. — If you want to improve harmony at your holiday gathering or ring in the new year improving communication, Clarity Coach Christiana Carter suggests cracking your code and sharing it with others.
"This is just really based on values and your values drive how you make decisions,” said Carter.
The process works by prioritizing four of the following value cards from most to least important:

- Predictability
- Responsibility
- Duty
- Rules
- Credentials
- Titles
- Tradition
KNOWLEDGE:
- Learning
- Intelligence
- Logic
- Self-mastery
- Technology
- Research and development
- Science
- Universal truths
- Expertise

“So, when you understand what someone values, now you can speak to what matters most to them,” said Carter.
Whether they're relationships at home, work or holiday gatherings, Carter says cracking the code can help change communication.
"If someone’s 'Nurturing,' I’ll take a moment, get to know them," said Carter.
"If they’re 'Blueprint,' I’ll say, 'So our agenda for the meeting is this and we have a checklist,'" she said.
"If they’re an 'Action,' I’ll say, 'Bottom line, here’s what we want to get done.' That way they know the result."
"And if they’re 'Knowledge,' I’ll say, 'Okay, I’ll send them information in advance,'" explained Carter who went on to say cracking and sharing codes can help determine differences in what breaks and builds rapport.
"And what you’ll see is, it’s not personal, it’s just personality," said Carter.
