OSCEOLA, Fla. — A pantry in St. Cloud that has been running for three decades will come to an end by December.

The St. Cloud Community Pantry serves about 100 people a week, handing out groceries and acting as a lifeline to many.

The pantry has operated out of a former power plant on 10th Street at no charge, but the area needs to be cleaned up. No deadlines have been issued for the Food Pantry to be out of the building. But still, the food pantry’s board voted to close by the end of the year due to their aging volunteers.

Tammi Madison, the Director for the St. Cloud Community Pantry said, “But in my heart I know that we need to get more people involved. We need some fresh ideas and some new places to go to. And you know what? It's gonna help you and it’s going to help the person coming in behind you needing food.”

The St. Cloud Community Pantry will continue to give out food and be open through December before churches all over St. Cloud open up smaller pantries as a replacement.
