CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In-person classes resumed on the campus of UNC Charlotte Thursday.

It was the first time in about six months that in-person classes have been held.

Only some students are returning. New freshmen, transfer students, and students in programs that require more hands-on learning are among them.

Students were given welcome bags that included masks and hand sanitizer.

“It feels very abnormal…it feels like a ghost town almost. It's weird, but I think we'll get used to it. It will be our new normal,” says UNC Charlotte junior Megan Smith.

After Thanksgiving, all classes and final exams will go remote.

The school's commencement in January will also be held virtually.
