POINCIANA, Fla. — One Poinciana church has been practicing “Giving Tuesday” every week, way before the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church is not having services, but they’re still welcoming residents on site with a different purpose.

They’re used to feeding about 700 families a month. However, last month that need grew, serving double that amount.

Every Tuesday, they set up a drive-thru mobile pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the church’s parking lot.

On Thursday, May 7, there will be a special food drop off by the Second Harvest Food bank at the church on Pleasant Hill Road, starting at 10 a.m.

Food Pantry Director Bob Doktor said, “It’s called pass it on. And I wish more people would realize how lucky they are and that they would pass some of that goodness on to others.”
