RALEIGH, N.C. -- The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has added contactless payment options at its license plate agencies, and says the options will soon be available at driver license offices as well.
The license plate agencies now accept Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, and other contactless cards for Visa and MasterCard transactions.
According to a release, customers who use the new option can simply tap their card against the card reader device instead of sliding or inserting it. Once that is done, they simply confirm the amount charged.
All previously accepted payment options will still be available, including cash, money orders, personal checks made payable to NCDMV, and Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit and debit cards.
