LONDON, Ohio - The household-cleaning product, Brillo Pad, has always been made in the United States.
And for the last 99 years each Brillo Pad you've used has been manufactured in London, Ohio.
Steel wire is shaved into steel wool and then threaded.
The wool is spooled and then cut and injected with soap.
The exact process of injecting the soap is a "Brillo secret" that first began in the 1930s.
From there, the square prieces are dried, packed and shipped. The process takes about one hour.
Piper White has worked at the plant for the last four decades in quality control.
"What I do here is take a box and we open them up and count to make sure we don't have any shorts now. And we're the only company. The only company that makes the Brillo Pads. The only company in the United States, so that makes me really proud," Piper White said.
Roughly 75 people work at the London plant. The only other place where Brillo products are produced is in Michigan.
