TITUSVILLE, Fla. — On the heels of the Apollo 11 moon landing 50th anniversary, space fans now have the chance to get their hands on unique items from that era.
- Apollo Era auction to be held in September
- 4,000 collectibles available
- Goal to raise $100,000
The American Space Museum in Titusville is hosting it's Charity Apollo Era Only Memorabilia Auction, and it's filled with around 4,000 collectibles.
Items like signed pictures of the Apollo 11 astronauts, an Apollo 11 flight plan, and a boot designed for training astronauts to walk on the lunar surface are available to bid on.
The items come from the Apollo 1 Foundation, with proceeds benefiting scholarships for STEM students and a 24-year-long display at the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame's former Titusville location.
"When they moved the building to the Kennedy Space Center, they no longer had room for this collection. It was returned to the owner who was kind enough to allow us to auction it for him," said Charles Jeffrey, an auctioneer for the American Space Museum Charity
The auction will take place on August 23 and August 24 at the American Space Museum.
The goal is to raise $100,000 dollars for the nonprofit organization.
