MOUNT DORA, Fla. — The Mount Dora Post Office has a new place to call home.

  • Donnelly Street location closes after 57 years
  • New location is a mile away from old location
  • Residents and neighbors excited about new location

After 57 years, the USPS Donnelly Street location shut its doors.

The new location is about a mile down the road from Downtown Mount Dora in a converted building which used to be a country-western bar.

The conversion of the building has neighbors excited about the move.

"It's great, more rooms, and it's easier to get in and out," said Mount Dora resident Ed Jones.

"This is a wonderful addition for Mount Dora," said Eustis resident Sheila Rue.

"This one's a lot better, bigger, newer," said Tim Callahan, another Mount Dora resident.

There were reports that the City was going to buy the old location and put in a parking lot.

Mount Dora Mayor Nick Girone says the city will not pursue that option.
