WINTER PARK, Fla. — Full Sail University is now home to what it says is the largest collegiate e-sports arena in the country.
- Full Sail officially opens its 11,200-square-foot esports arena
- "The Fortress" is also home to school's collegiate e-sports team
The school held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to officially unveil "The Fortress."
The project, first announced in October, is a 11,200-square-foot facility that can fit up to 500 fans and boasts 400 LED tiles.
"I think this is big wake-up call for a lot of people saying, 'This is something I start paying attention to.' It's really taking the world by storm," Full Sail Esports Strategist Bennett Newsome said. "As you start to find a place like Orlando and Winter Park that has a facility like this and is doubling down on e-sports, it's a really exciting time."
The facility is also home to Armada, the school's collegiate e-sports team.
Full Sail is a private, for-profit university with a focus on audio, film, video game, design, music, and media production.
