ORLANDO, Fla. — State Rep. Jennifer Sullivan (R-District 31) joined Political Connections to discuss the Florida legislative session, which recently ended, and key bills from her education committee. ‘
Since 2014, Sullivan has represented the 31st district of Florida, which covers Eustis, Apopka, Umatilla, Mount Dora, and Tavares.
The Republican leader talked to Spectrum News’ Allison Walker Torres about the School Guardian Program, which was recently signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“ … what it would do is it would allow teachers to go through an extensive training process, 144 hours’ worth of training, a psychological evaluation amongst other things, and then being able to carry on the school premises if they so desire,” Sullivan said.
She added, “ … we know at times that those gun-free zones are the most vulnerable places.”
