ORLANDO, Fla. — The City of Orlando has a new website, and Spectrum News 13 Insider has a look at it to help you navigate it.

  • City of Orlando has a brand new website
  • Director of Innovation says site is more 'user-friendly'
  • They want residents to interact more with the city online

The first thing you'll need to know is the web address is changing. It's now www.orlando.gov, instead of cityoforlando.net. With a new name comes a cleaner and more user-friendly look.

"The idea behind that was residents want to interact with the city online, and they don't just want to go to the website to find a phone number, they want to be able to interact with us and do their business online," said Matt Broffman, Director of Innovation for the City of Orlando.

Broffman says it's a lot easier to do that now.

"Before, we would say, ‘Oh, you're interested in appealing your parking ticket or getting a speed bump, reporting a pothole,’ or whatever it might be. We would say, ‘Email us,’" he said.

Here's Broffman’s first tip:

"Go online. Actually just type in what you're looking for," he said. "You no longer have to navigate and figure out where to find things and what department."

If you're new and want to know what's around where you live, here's another tip:

"I'd go on … a 'My Neighborhood' section where you can type in your address and see everything that the city has around your area — from fire stations and police stations, to neighborhood centers, to parks, to events that might be happening nearby," Broffman said.
