According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, a 7-year-old girl's mother overheard her telling her sibling that a substitute teacher touched her, and the student said she was afraid to say anything.
The mother reported it to deputies, who then confronted the teacher, whom deputies said admitted to the crime.
On Monday, deputies said a total of six girls' families had come forward with allegations of inappropriate contact. All the girls are between 6 and 8 years old, they said. He had been out on $45,000 bond, but after a new warrant was issued and signed, he turned himself in, investigators said.
"That's why it's important for parents and caregivers of children to intervene, to really be proactive, to reach out to your children because sometimes, they're scared to talk," said Maj. Jacob Ruiz of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
Syedyaseen-Asher underwent a background check prior to working at the school, authorities said.
