  • Film shines light on 1960s-era travel guide for blacks

Spectrum News 13 anchor Tammie Fields hosted a panel after the documentary, which aired at the Orlando Museum of Art.

The book was written by Victor Green, a black postal carrier who documented safe places to travel for African-Americans in the 1960s.

Central Florida Urban League President and CEO Glenton Gilzean Jr. spoke about the background of the film.

"It's a documentary on how African-Americans back during the Jim Crow era had to use a special book to access different hotels, different eateries. They weren't privileged to go everywhere."

The next airing of the documentary on Smithsonian Channel is Tuesday.
