CASSELBERRY, Fla. — A meeting tonight in Seminole County will give Casselberry residents one last chance to weigh in on plans for city parks.

  • Casselberry planning enhancements to 5 parks
  • Also planning to build a new park
  • A referendum may be put before voters to raise money

The meeting tonight is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Casselberry Recreation Center at Secret Lake Park on Triplett Lake Drive.

Casselberry’s goal is to continue to enhance their parks system with upgraded features for families and children.

Once the conceptual plan for the parks is finalized, it will then be up to the City Commission on how next to proceed.

To raise money for this project, the commission may then have to ask for a referendum that residents will have to vote on to help support the park initiative financially.

City Manager Randy Newlon says they are still a long way from that happening though.

“This will be a continued process," Newlon said. "March, April, May, June — throughout this year. It's a process. So I would ask the community to be patient. I’d ask them to know their is no forgone conclusion, one way or another.”

One of the six parks to see potential investments made would actually be a new one which has no name yet. The city was recently awarded a $250,000 state grant to partially fund the new park, which includes a bike training area for small children.

Casselberry Parks and Facilities manages 17 parks. It includes three community parks, six neighborhood parks — including the Pawmosa Dog Park — and eight mini parks.

Below is a map of the five parks that may get upgrades, along with the location of the future park.
