ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando airport workers say they’re not happy about something President Donald Trump didn’t mention in Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.

A representative for TSA workers and employees who work in aviation safety at Orlando International Airport say they aren’t happy the President didn’t actually mention the recent partial government shutdown and its effect on workers who were furloughed and went without paychecks during the 35 day stretch.

Brandon Dyer, who works for the Federal Aviation Administration and is a member of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, says he would’ve liked for President Trump to at least acknowledge what the workers went through.

“I think if it would’ve been acknowledged, or at least a thank you, that would’ve been nice, especially for the workers who were required to come to work, even during the shutdown,” Dyer said.

Dyer says visibly divisive reactions to the President’s speech makes them skeptical lawmakers in Congress will come up with a compromise by February 15 to keep the government fully open.
