ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating a man discovered shot in an Orlando backyard on Monday morning.
- Man shot to death believed to be in his 20s or 30s
- Investigators say they're looking into surveillance video
- No motive behind the shooting determined yet
Deputies confirmed Jarnell Deravious Browdy, 28, was shot off Trevarthon Road, near North Econlockhatchee Trail (North Econ Trail), and State Road 417 in Orlando.
Investigators arrived before 11 a.m. to the home where Browdy was found dead in a backyard. Fire rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Sheriff's Office says Browdy did not live at the Trevarthon Road home.
A homeowner told Spectrum News 13 that he heard shots around 6 a.m. Monday.
Members of the shooting victim's family gathered at the scene. Darryl Horne says the man shot to death was his nephew. He said he didn’t want to get into why his nephew was shot, but he says his family is devastated.
"He was a proud father, he loved his grandmother and his brothers and sisters. He was family-oriented, and he was trying to get his life together," Horne said.
Deputies say they are reviewing home surveillance video in hopes that it will help them in their investigation. They're still looking for a motive behind the shooting.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information on the deadly shooting is encouraged to call Crimeline at 1-800-432-TIPS. Callers are eligible for a $5,000 reward for information that helps lead to an arrest.
