ORLANDO, Fla. — State Sen. Linda Stewart (D-Orlando) visited Political Connections to discuss proposed legislation regarding gun safety, along with time limits regarding prosecution of sexual battery.

Stewart represents the 13th district in the Florida Senate, which covers northeast and central Orange County.

The Democratic state senator has held her seat since 2016.

In a conversation with Political Connections's Ybeth Bruzual, Stewart talked about filing an assault weapon ban, even though the last gun safety bill she introduced died in committee in 2017. Regardless, Stewart says she remains hopeful.

"We have so many people that support this bill," she said. "... maybe we can get -- at least -- it heard in the first and second committee, but it's going to be tough."
