According to officials, 55-year-old David Johnson shot 30-year-old Carli Cronin as the two were arguing in the garden center of the Walmart on East Silver Springs Boulevard, around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police say then the woman screamed for help. As employees called 911, police say the man shot and killed the woman, then took off.
Police say Johnson left the Walmart on a bicycle after the shooting.
They found him about two hours later at a home down the road with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head -- he is not expected to survive.
Ocala Fire Rescue says they treated three people who suffered injuries in the chaos of trying to escape the store. They're expected to be fine.
"Everybody (was) running out saying there is a shooting at Walmart and not to go in there," said one witness. "A bunch of police show up, ambulance, fire trucks they were getting everybody out of the store I didn’t know what was going on at first."
