- Dump truck overturned, spilling sand across roadway
The crash happened near Plant Street just before 6:30 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said one person was transported to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. There were other minor injuries.
According to FHP, the crash happened when traffic slowed down to let a vehicle merge. A pickup truck then improperly changed lanes, troopers said, cutting off the dump truck. The dump truck then struck a van, causing a chain-reaction crash.
That's when the dump truck spilled its load of sand over the roadway.
A second crash happened about a mile away, when a semi-truck failed to slow down for stopped traffic, struck a guardrail and jackknifed.
Vehicles stuck in the closure were allowed to go on the grassy median on the southbound side of S.R. 429 while the road was closed at Ocoee Apopka Road.
