- Family asking for second chance
Alejandra Juarez came to the U.S. illegally when she was 18.
She eventually married and had a family. Nearly 20 years later, immigration officials discovered Juarez' status during a traffic stop.
Now, she must leave by August. She said it's tearing her family apart.
"I was heartbroken," Juarez said.
Juarez said all her family wants is a second chance.
"I made a mistake," Juarez said. "I did something wrong. I deeply regret it. But I ask people to look at what my husband has contributed to this country."
Her husband served three tours as a Marine.
Just Thursday, U.S. Representative Darren Soto of Central Florida introduced a bill to keep Juarez in the country -- H.R. 6191.
Juarez said she plans to go to Washington D.C. soon to try and get support.
