  • Deputies say agents opened fire during suspected drug deal
  • Agents were part of city/county investigative team, Sheriff's Office said

The shooting happened at a gas station on State Road 434 and Champion Avenue in Longwood.

According to Bob Kealing of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the 29-year-old man was ordered by agents from a city/county investigative bureau to get out of a vehicle during a suspected drug transaction.

When he didn't comply, shots were fired, Kealing said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was shot multiple times and hospitalized, Seminole County Fire said.

Nearby business owner Michael Jones said he can't get the sound of the gunshots out of his head.

"I’m still feel it right now. I’m still thinking about it right now. You don't hear gunshots too often unless you're in the woods hunting," he said.

The man was conscious and breathing when he was transported to the hospital, deputies said.

A woman in the passenger seat of the vehicle was grazed and incurred a minor injury, Kealing said.

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting.
