The man accused in the murder of a Winter Park personal assistant confessed to killing and kidnapping her, new court documents say.

Scott Edward Nelson faces multiple charges, including first degree murder, in the death of Jennifer Fulford, who disappeared in September from a home on the 100 block of East Webster Avenue in Winter Park, where she had worked for years as a personal assistant to a family.

She was reported missing Sept. 27, when someone reported that she hadn't shown up to pick up a child from school nor had been answering her phone, which was unusual.

In an arrest warrant, police investigators say Nelson entered the Winter Park home, while armed with a cutting instrument and kidnapped Fulford on Sept. 27.

They say he stole her bank card and vehicle, then drove to a Wells Fargo bank to withdraw money. He was seen on surveillance video, they say.

He then executed Fulford, investigators say. The documents state that Amtrak train manifests show Nelson bought a train ticket to Jacksonville.

Fulford's body was found three days later in a wooded area off Apopka-Vineland Road in Orange County. Her feet and hands were bound, and her face was covered with duct tape.

The medical examiner ruled her cause of death was stab wounds and asphyxia.

Nelson was taken into custody in Jacksonville on Oct. 1 and was later ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Investigators said Nelson confessed to the crimes in mid-November.

Winter Park Police's Captain Pam Marcum says Nelson cannot be charged until he is out of federal custody for violation of probation on bank robbery charges.
