A giant hole opened in the middle of an Apopka road after a pickup truck hit a fire hydrant Monday evening, causing water to wash out part of the ground.
Orange County Fire Rescue said the crash happened just before 6 p.m. Monday along Yvonne Street, in a neighborhood off Thompson Road, north of Semoran Boulevard.
The blast of water from the hydrant opened a hole in the front yard of a home, causing the truck to start sinking into the hole.

Utility crews were called in to repair the damage, and dozens of homes in the area were without water while crews worked to stop the flooding in the street.
The man who lives at the home where the truck was sucked into the hole said authorities told him to stay in his home, which sits back about a half-acre from the road.

Water dredged up sand, spreading it across Yvonne Street.
The road remains blocked Tuesday morning, as crews will continue to work to repair the massive hole in the street.
