A man shopping in Volusia County returned to his pickup truck to find it on fire in the parking lot Monday afternoon.
Edgewater firefighters arrived shortly after 1 p.m. to find a 2011 Ford F-150 fully engulfed in flames at the Edgewater Commons Shopping Center.
Fire investigators said the truck's owner had been shopping in the True Value Hardware store, when he heard someone say there was a fire in the parking lot. He came outside to find it was his truck that was on fire.
Crews managed to fully extiguish the fire in three minutes, Edgewater fire officials said.
The front of the truck was seriously damaged, including the windshield and front tires. A car parked next to it was not damaged.
The truck's owner admitted to firefighters the truck had been part of a recall for a cruise control issue. Fire officials did not immediately say whether that was a factor in the fire.
