Five people are under arrest, all accused of being involved in a dog fighting operation Friday that left one dog dead.
Orange County deputies said they broke up the fight at a home on Ohio Street. Deputies said they got a tip about the fight, and when they got to the property they could hear dogs whimpering.
Deputies detained five people:
- Channson Darisaw
- Jaqual Ford
- Devin Griffin
- Eddie Jackson
- Kimberly Beckford
A sixth person got away.
Deputies found seven dogs at the home. One was dead, another had fresh, deep gashes on its face, which one deputy described as "horrid."
None of the defendants knew who owned the property. Orange County Animal Services now has the dogs.
Deputies said Beckford told them they all knew about the dog fight. They also said Griffin had more than $600 and a smart phone in his pocket, which investigators said was typical for someone running a dog fighting operation.
All five were charged with attending an animal fight.
Meanwhile, deputies are looking for the sixth suspect. He had dark skin and was wearing all black clothing. One of the other suspects said his nickname is "Dirty D."
