This weekend on In Focus, we’re taking a closer look at drugged driving.
JoDee Kenney sits down with Elizabeth Carey from AAA. According to Carey, 37% of all New York state fatalities are blamed on drugged driving and they are seeing an increase. Even though cannabis is legal, it is illegal to drive with it in your system.
"If you feel different, you drive different," says Carey.
She urges people to use defensive driving on the roads and to stay focused. She says today's THC is much different from the cannabis from decades ago. Now you could get high, drive in an hour and while it may not be in bloodstream, it still is in your system and in your brain. Carey also touched on how dangerous it can be to combine over-the-counter drugs or prescription drugs with cannabis. It's all about being responsible behind the wheel.
