We continue to explore Florida’s initiatives to produce qualified workers for a changing and dynamic workforce. According to the Florida Chamber of Commerce, there are not enough qualified workers to fill the current job openings available right now in Florida (around 300,000). In the first of our two-part series, we will explore the state’s apprenticeship program following the recent passage of HB 7071 and SB 770. How do these programs work and do they pave the road to a qualified workforce in Florida?  In addition, with a strong economy, how do you ensure continued success and not become complacent?  Do we need to continue to diversify our economic base and workforce?  How is that accomplished?
