ORLANDO, Fla. — Firefighters are ready to go at a moment's notice. But up until recently, their life-saving equipment did not include help for man's best friend.

"The fire department has thought about them, and they knew they needed this, they just didn't have the funds to do it," says Val Mobley of the United Methodist Church.

She attends the church and when an anonymous church member died in 2018, leaving a large sum of money to the church, the question of what to do with the money needed to be answered.

When the money was left to the church, a meeting was held were everyone came together and discuss what to do with the funds. It was suggested that the church give the money away.

As it turns out, teenager Devon Webber, a member of the church, suggested the money be spent on Fido Bags, 17 to be exact.

Inside each bag is lifesaving equipment for pets of all sizes, so if they are rescued from a fire, they can receive care too.

"The animals don't understand we are saving their lives. But once they breathe this, I am sure they get it," said Mobley.
