1. Trump announces 90-day pause on most tariffs except for China
After days of economic turmoil and global frustration with his tariff policies, President Donald Trump announced Wednesday a 90-day pause on many of the import taxes he placed on most countries in the world, with the exception of China.
U.S. trading markets jumped up after days of downward trends in the immediate aftermath of Trump’s post, even as details of Trump's strategy remained unclear.
2. The U.S. has three measles-related deaths and hundreds of cases. Here's what to know
Texas surpassed 500 measles cases Tuesday, just days after a third person died from a measles-related illness.
The U.S. has more than double the number of measles cases it saw in all of 2024. Texas is reporting the majority of them with 505. The cases include two young elementary school-aged children who were not vaccinated and died from measles-related illnesses near the epicenter of the outbreak in rural Texas, which led Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to visit the community on Sunday.
Judges in Texas and New York on Wednesday said they would temporarily bar the U.S. government from deporting Venezuelans jailed in parts of those two states while their lawyers challenge the Trump administration’s use of a rarely-invoked law letting presidents imprison and deport noncitizens in times of war.
4. Passover begins soon. For many Jews, the celebrations will occur amid anxieties and divisions
Passover is a major Jewish holiday, celebrated over seven or eight days each year, commemorating the exodus of ancient Israelites from slavery in Egypt, as recounted in the Bible. It is considered the most widely observed of any Jewish holiday, symbolizing freedom and the birth of a Jewish nation.

Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Boyd announces retirement
Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Boyd announced his retirement from the court, effective this summer.
Boyd posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday saying, “I am honored and blessed to have served on the Texas Supreme Court these past twelve years. I’m especially grateful to Governor Rick Perry for appointing me to the court in 2012, to the many Texans who have encouraged, supported, and voted for me through two statewide elections.”
