Michael Anthony King confessed to the Wednesday night slaying of his 65-year-old mother, Nancy Ann Noone, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office. He's facing a first-degree murder charge.
Deputies responded at about 8:30 p.m. to the home on the 600 block of Cornwall Road. Noone was found unresponsive inside the home, where she was declared dead.
When detectives caught up with King, he "confessed to committing the murder," saying he'd "fantasized of committing murder in the past but only acted on it," according to an affidavit.
The report also said the killing of his mother was unprovoked and nothing led up to the stabbing.
Noone died from having her "throat cut" by stabbing, the affidavit said.
Judge Carly Wish denied bond to King on Thursday. He was also ordered to have no contact with his family.
Orange County public defender Robert Wesley will represent King and was out canvassing the Winter Park Pines neighborhood.
"We need to get a head start on the case, and the family dynamics are very important," he said. "I know to the neighbors it feels oppressive and people are invading their privacy, but it's important we can find out what we can as early as we can as we represent this young man," Wesley said.
