Investigators say Amato's brother, Cody, and parents Chad and Margaret were found shot to death at their home on Sultan Circle in Chuluota on Friday.
According to court records, Cody Amato told his girlfriend he was afraid his brother would kill everyone. The records said other family members told investigators that Grant Amato had stolen $200,000 from his family to interact with an online call girl from Bulgaria.
Investigators said his family told Grant Amato to either check into a rehab facility for sex addiction or leave the house. When Grant left the facility, the family said he could only stay if he stopped contacting the call girl.
The documents say that on Thursday, Grant Amato's father caught him trying to contact the woman and kicked him out of the home. The next day, investigators found the three Amato family members dead.
Grant Amato's public defender said investigators have not proved that his client was the one who fired the fatal shots.
"There are no weapons found, certainly a motive, (and) no forensic evidence at this time," Jeff Dowdy said. "My client has denied responsibility for this case."
A judge ordered Amato to be held on no bond. He's expected be back in court for an arraignment March 26.
