In this week’s Central Florida: Beyond the Soundbite podcast: Amendment 4, or better known as the felon voting rights. This topic has been the subject of continued fiery debate.

Voters approved Amendment 4 in 2018, restoring voting rights to most nonviolent felons who have completed their sentences. But then a legal battle erupted over a law subsequently passed by the Republican-controlled Florida Legislature requiring felons to first pay all legal fees and fines before they can vote again.

As the legal process plays out, the man behind the 2018 amendment cast a ballot for the first time in more than 30 years on August 18.

Desmond Meade, executive director of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, shares his personal struggles with hosts Ybeth Bruzual, Greg Angel, and Gary Darling, and explains why his very personal fight is far from over.

And finally, Greg's positive story of the week features his dog, Tucker.
