DADE CITY, Fla. — Snowcat Ridge, which bills itself as Florida's first alpine snow park, has delayed its seasonal reopening to December.

What You Need To Know

  • Snowcat Ridge, Florida's first alpine snow park, pushes back opening from Nov. 17 to Dec. 3

  • The park is adding a new attraction called Santa's Christmas, which will feature a Santa meet-and-greet and story time with Mrs. Claus

  • The park also offers a 60-foot-tall snow tubing hill, an indoor play area with "real snow" and an ice skating ribbon

The Dade City park, which was originally set to open Nov. 17, will now open on Dec. 3 due to "supply chain delays" that have prevented the park from finishing its new restrooms in time, officials said Tuesday.

"After working extensively to prepare for its original planned opening date, Snowcat Ridge has chosen to move its opening day to December 3, 2023 due to supply chain delays which have prevented the completion of its new $1 million upgraded restroom facilities," the park said in a statement. " The new restroom facilities feature a pair of new family restrooms as well as significantly increased capacity and comfort."

Anyone who purchased tickets for dates before Dec. 3 will receive a full refund, according to the statement.

Previously, Snowcat Ridge announced that it would add a new attraction to its lineup when it returned for its 2023-2024 season. Santa's Christmas Land will be a themed area that offers visitors "an enchanting holiday experience like no other," according to a description on the park's website. It will also feature a Santa meet-and-greet inside Santa's Cozy Cabin, story time with Mrs. Claus and holiday merchandise at Santa's Gift Shoppe.

There will also be a new play area for kids called Peppermint Play Zone.

Other attractions offered at the snow park include a 60-foot-tall snow tubing hill, an indoor play area with “real snow,” and an ice skating ribbon.

Snowcat Ridge also offers an evening music and light show at its Snowy Slopes tubing hill and private igloos for rent.
