- Disney begins testing Skyliner system
- Gondolas, stations will feature themed designs
- System will connect Epcot, Hollywood Studios to nearby resorts
The first set of Skyliner gondolas have been delivered and a few have been added to the cable line for testing, Disney said in a blog post.
Each gondolas will feature designs inspired by Disney films, attractions and characters. Some of the themes include Beauty & the Beast, Zootopia, Star Wars, Haunted Mansion and Chip & Dale.
The gondola stations will also feature unique designs. The Epcot station, for example, is inspired by the architecture of nearby pavilions.
Once complete, the new transportation system will connect Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios to Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and the upcoming Disney's Riviera Resort.
The added transportation option comes ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the 14-acre themed land at Hollywood Studios. Other new attractions on the way include a Mickey Mouse-themed dark ride at Hollywood Studios, a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster at Epcot and a Tron coaster at Magic Kingdom.
