ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cirque du Soleil's latest production is ready to hit the ice.

  • Cirque du Soleil's Crystal arrives in Orlando
  • Show features acrobatics and ice skating
  • 7 performances Aug. 1 through Aug. 5

"Crystal" opens Wednesday night at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando.

The show, which features acrobatics and synchronized skating acts on ice, is a first-of-its-kind.

Some of the performers, which have training in aerials and gymnastics, had to learn to ice skate just for the show.

"It was a lot of training," said Jerome Sordilloe, during a rehearal Wednesday. "We had to add the ice on our skill, which was difficult because most of us didn't skate before."

Sordilloe plays the love interest of the show's lead character, who happens to be named Crystal.

In addition to the acrobatics, the show features colorful visual projections and a pop music soundtrack.

"Crystal" tells the story of a young on a journey of self-discovery as she dives into a "world of her own imagination."

The show will have seven performances in Orlando from Aug. 1 through Aug. 5.
