Sasha Teman joined Spectrum News 13 as a multimedia journalist in June 2024. Sasha has reported on a multitude of issues, from ongoing flooding concerns in the city of Edgewater to community efforts by Orange County residents to create a rural boundary charter amendment. Sasha making connections with people in Florida’s various counties and communities and has a passion for bringing issues that affect people disproportionately to light.

Before moving to Central Florida, Sasha lived in Montreal, QC for the past seven years where she completed her bachelor’s degree with a major in Journalism and a minor in Sociology from Concordia University in 2021.

Shortly after graduation, Sasha got her start in media in the Canadian prairies, in the province of Saskatchewan, working as a French-speaking multimedia reporter for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s (CBC) French affiliate, Radio-Canada. There, she took on various roles blending broadcast, radio, and digital reporting both in English and in French.

During her time in Saskatchewan, she reported on an array of issues including the province’s French linguistic minority, ground searches for unmarked graves of Indigenous children at residential schools, and a nurse shortage in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After spending a year in the Canadian prairies, Sasha moved back to Montreal, QC. During her time as a video journalist at CityNews and CTV Montreal, she reported on issues central to Anglophone Canadians including Bill 96, which limits the use of English in certain settings, Quebec’s provincial elections and social justice issues including student protests over the killing of Iranian-woman Mahsa Amini, for not wearing her hijab properly.

When she’s off the job, Sasha enjoys taking dance classes, improving her DJ’ing skills and spending time with her loved ones outdoors. In addition to speaking English fluently, Sasha’s first language is French since she was born in Paris, France. After having lived in Miami for ten years during her formative years, she also learned how to speak Spanish and considers herself an intermediate-level Spanish speaker and writer.
