Craig helps her Marion County classroom catch the learning bug even while studying remotely.
She teaches Biology and Environmental Science at West Port High School in Ocala.
"It's always been my motto to have them be creative and critical thinkers. That's my charge to my students is to make the world a better place before you leave up out of here,” Craig said.
Craig loves what she does but she almost chose a different career path.
"Well actually originally I wanted to be a veterinarian, and I decided to have a family so school was out of the picture, and I've always loved science so much. That's been my passion so I figured the next best thing would be working with students,” she said.
Craig says while the transition to online learning is going well, she wants her students to always know her lessons aren't a one-way street.
"I want to hear their opinions. I want them to do their own research." She said.
She wants them to keep up that research even now during the coronavirus pandemic because it's applicable.
"So looking at population density, which right now those things directly correlate to the COVID numbers. So we're looking at the locations around the world with the greatest rates of people testing positive,” she said.
Still Craig says she really misses seeing her students in person, especially her seniors.
"I miss them. I miss talking to people in person,” she said.
