DALLAS — Texas has been selected as the central hub for Stargate Venture’s ambitious first data center initiative. According to Bloomberg, Stargate Venture announced the decision at a press conference on Thursday.

This is part of the $100 billion project between Stargate, OpenAI, SoftBank Group Corp. and Oracle Corp. It’s part of President Donald Trump’s initiative to boost artificial intelligence infrastructure in America

The company noted Texas’ favorable business environment, access to renewable energy resources and infrastructure as key factors influencing the choice. Bloomberg reported the project must create a minimum of 57 full-time jobs, with an average wage of $57,600 annually. However, President Donald Trump said it would create “over 100,000 American jobs.”

OpenAI said it would “create hundreds of thousands of American jobs,” in a recent blog post.

The data center will be located on 875 acres near Abilene, Texas. Construction is slated to begin in mid-2025, with operations expected to start by mid 2026.
