KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A number of children in Kissimmee don’t have a home for the holidays and will be spending Christmas at the hotels along U.S. 192. This is why one organization is trying to make their holidays a little brighter.

September Fordham is battling Stage 3 cancer while living at the Duo Boutique Hotel, but she still has her holiday spirit.

Fordham has a 16-year-old daughter and grandbaby she helps take care of, so she was grateful to learn the nonprofit International Chaplains The Good Samaritan will be bringing toys for the kids at Duo Boutique Hotel on December 22 starting at 12 p.m.

One of the organizers, Bethzaida Lopez, the secretary for International Chaplains The Good Samaritan, said she can identify with these families, because she grew up in poverty herself.

“I would love to see many happy smiles and not just the kids but also the parents,” Lopez explained. “Because what parent does not love when somebody brings joy to their children?”

Despite it all, Fordham said she just wants to feel a little magic this holiday season.

“I just hope to have my family. I just hope to have them with me, because it might be my last Christmas,” Fordham said. “I just want them to all be with me, and I really want the kids to have something — some magic of Christmas.”

The organization is in need of toys for little ones and also gifts for teenagers ages 13 to 17 years old.

If you want to donate actual toys and gifts, you can physically drop them off at:
