DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash in Daytona Beach, according to police.

Officers responded early Monday to a single-vehicle crash on South Beach Street.
According to police, the driver of a Pontiac was heading north on South Beach Street at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control, left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The collision caused the vehicle to go airborne, according to police.
Three men were found inside the vehicle. They have been identified as Alex Thomas, 23; Marquise Jenkins, 25; and Danquelle Nash, 23. Thomas died at the scene. The other two men were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in critical condition.
Police have not yet determined who was driving the vehicle.
