High pressure that has been in control retreats as another cold front heads toward Central Florida this weekend. Ahead of the front, warm southerly winds return 80s to the region and also increase moisture. Best rain chances exist Sunday with the frontal passage. Behind it, cooler and drier air moves in next week.
We had quite the temperature difference this morning across the area. While parts of Marion county dropped in to the low 40s before sunrise, communities in South Brevard actually held to temps in the mid 60s as winds came ashore and helped hold up the thermometer readings. Those winds should actually hold temps in the mid 70s not only in Brevard but across Central Florida, with slightly cooler highs along the shoreline north of the cape. Look for partly sunny skies to stay with us through the afternoon.
Tonight, partly cloudy skies and onshore winds keep temperatures above normal. Expect lows to drop into the mid to upper-50s northwest of I-4, and 60s south. Tomorrow, southerly winds ahead of the next cold front return many of us to the low to mid-80s under partly sunny skies. Rain chances will begin to increase over NW Central Florida as we move through the evening and overnight hours in to Sunday.
On Sunday, the frontal boundary moves through Central Florida. Scattered showers and an isolated storm or two are possible. Once the front exits to our south, breezy northerly winds usher in another shot of cool and drier air next week. After topping in the upper 70s on Sunday, highs will fight to hit the 70 degree mark on Monday. Temperatures return to the normal range for the most of the week to follow.
