West Orange’s quest for their first state title since 1994 continues.

The Warriors scored early and often to defeat Western 11-1 in 6 innings in the Class 9A semifinal. The top ranked team team in Central Florida scored at least one run in each inning.

Lauren Mathis was stellar in the circle striking out 11 and giving up only two hits.

Lexie Blair got the game going with a triple in the top of the first. Samantha Golden brought her home with a sacrifice bunt to make it 1-0.

Blair later drove in a run with a single up the middle, all part of a three-run 4th inning.

The 4 runs scored in the bottom of the 6th ended the game due to a 10 run game differential.

West Orange will now take on Alonso.

Alonso saved their best for last as they entered the bottom of the 7th trailing 6-4.

Caila Weisman started things off for the Ravens with a triple. Kirsten Hawkins drove her in with an RBI double to make it 6-5. Amanda Wetzel tied it at 6 with a single. The next batter, Jessica Louth sent everyone home courtesy of a walk-off 2 run homer over the right field fence.

Alonso will play in their first ever state title game LIVE on BHSN (Channel 47/HD 1147) Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
