Lake Region got close to adding a third stare championship trophy to its hardware collection three seasons ago. But the Thunder fell in the title game 3-0.

They'll get another shot at state title No. 3 after a dominating 3-0 win over South Fork in the Class 7A state softball semifinals.

Pitcher Mary Haff shined on the mound for the Thunder with a no-hitter into the sixth. She was replaced by Jordan Barnes who helped finish off South Fork.

Lake Region's bats did most of the damage in the fifth inning with Brandice Boatwright's RBI single and Madison Johnson's RBI double.

The Thunder will face Gainesville for the 7A title. The Hurricanes shutout Braden River 4-0.

Winning pitcher Katie Chronister, a Florida Gators commit, allowed just three hits and struck out nine.

The Canes and Lake Region's 7A Championship Game will air LIVE on BHSN (Channel 47/HD 1147) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
