The North Marion Colts made school history by advancing to the state baseball semifinals for the first time.

That's as far as the Colts would get.

North Marion ran into the buzzsaw that is Archbishop McCarthy. The defending state champs mercy ruled the Colts 14-2 to advance to the Class 6A state title game.

Archbishop McCarthy, seeking its sixth state title in seven years, will play Mosley for the 6A championship LIVE on BHSN (Channel 47/HD 1147) Thursday at 4 p.m.

The Mavericks went to work early. In the top of second with runners in the corners, Jake Holland sent a missile to left field, but North Marion's Trey Szot makes a diving catch before runner scores.

Later in the inning, It was bases loaded for Kobe Lopez and he drove in two runs with a single. The Colts gave up a couple of bases loaded walks and a throwing error to increase the Mavericks lead to 6-0.

Then Adan Fernandez made it 8-0 with a two-run double puts.

The Mavericks poured it on in the fourth with six runs before the Colts finally come to life and loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth and score a run. But it was too little, too late.
