Fast, faster, and full throttle. Ocoee football is moving in the right direction, thanks to a practice style that could only be described as fast moving organized chaos.

Last season was the first under new head coach Ben Bullock, with the Knights sporting a 6-4 record. Ocoee also went 4-2 in districts, their first time over .500 in district play.

“We only have 24 hours in a day and it’s about how much can you get done compared to some other people you are competing against,” said Coach Bullock, in explanation of his up-tempo practices. “ And sometimes that’s how you compete against teams that maybe you shouldn’t compete against, because you are trying to get more done with less.”

“We’ve got a good spirit, good vibe going, and I feel like the team is ready,” said cornerback B.J. Bohler. “We are going to be like the team to beat in the area, so watch out.”

All of this up-tempo play and preparation is in anticipation of next season’s tough schedule. The Knights play Bishop Moore before the start of the season, with their first regular season game against Apopka. Other non-district opponents include Wekiva, Lake Nona and West Orange.

“We play in Central Florida. And if you want to be one of the elite teams, you have to beat the elite teams,” said Coach Bullock.

“Everything they do, they do the same way we do. They breathe like we breathe, and they bleed like we bleed. So just put in the work, and it’ll all pay off,” said soon-to-be senior Dorian Jones.

The Knights will be tested, but their goal is in sight and they are running full speed ahead.

“They see what that looks like, what that elite program looks like, and that is what we are trying to strive for,” said Bullock. “So let’s try and raise our expectations and keep them there. Ultimately these guys will get there.”
