A lot of state champs were crowned and a huge upset highlighted Day One of the 2016 FHSAA Competitive Cheerleading State Championships.

Bishop Moore was knocked from the top spot. The Hornets were vying for their eighth-straight state title, but finished third in the Class 1A Medium Varsity Division.

The Sickles Gryphons broke through with the school's first cheerleading state title. Sickles finished first in the Class 2A Small Varsity Division, unseating two-time defending champs Oviedo, who finished second.

While Bishop Moore was upset, the state's other cheerleading royalty Winter Park won their fifth-straight title, claiming the Class 2A Medium Varsity titlle.
