Two of Central Florida's top teams prevailed in decisive wins at the inaugural Bright House Sports Network Showcase at Colonial High School as Jones topped Seminole, 92-73 and top ranked Lake Highland Prep cruised past the host Grenadiers, 60-45. The BHSN Showcase had seven games featuring nine teams ranked in the BHSN Top Ten rankings.

The Seminoles entered the contest ranked 5th just ahead of #6 Jones who had gone 3-1 in their last four games. It was Tigers senior Kornelia Wright's night as the UCF signee dropped in a game high 37 points along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Wright was one of four Jones players in double figures (Chardell Jones-20 pts, Jamiya Turner-17 pts, Shania Jacobs-16 pts) as the Tigers forced Seminole into 23 turnovers with a swarming defense. The Seminoles were led by freshman Re'Yanna Jones who scored 24 points on 7-11 FG before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Seminole senior Aniquah Swan chipped in 21 points and grabbed a game high 15 boards in the loss. Both teams will begin district tournaments next week as the Seminoles fall to 21-4 and Jones improves to 15-8 on the season.

The final game of the evening pitted the top ranked Highlanders against the third ranked Grenadiers for the third consecutive season. LHP stormed out of the gate early to a 10-0 lead before Colonial began to chip away at the lead. LHP never trailed in the game as senior Jordan Lewis took over the game late to lead all scorers with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Juniors Rachel Jablonski (13 points) and Tyra Cox (12 points) paced the Highlanders early as Colonial tried to work through poor shooting in the first half hitting just 17% of their shots. Grenadier seniors Dajsha Hall (7 points) and Denise Daniels (6 points) were held way below their season averages as Colonial fell to 20-4 on the season. Senior Jaylyn Harrison led Colonial with 12 points.

Lake Highland Prep improves to 20-3 on the year and will look to win their district and move on to the playoffs in hopes to defend their Class 4A state title.
