Mainland’s Jachai Polite’s 57-yard scoop and score in the fourth quarter closed the door on Dr. Phillips making any type of comeback as the Bucs prevailed 28-7 Friday night on the Bright House Sports Network Game of the Week.

The Bucs (5-0) defense held Dr. Phillips (2-3) to just 119 total yards as both teams struggled to find a rhythm on offense.

At half the top ranked team in 6A held a 14-7 advantage.

Adrian Killins 43-yard touchdown breakaway in the fourth quarter extended the lead for the Bucs. The senior running back finished with 22 carries for 106 yards and a TD.

Mainland racked up 14 penalties for a loss of 149 yards but still finished with 347-yards of offense on the night.

After three straight losses to state contending teams, Dr. Phillips will look to rebound Oct. 9 against Oak Ridge while Mainland will meet Deltona in next Friday.
