The top high school football teams in Central Florida, as selected by the Bright House Sports Network staff:

1. Mainland (11-1) – Bucs survived a serious scare from Heritage and will host Miami Central this Friday. The Rockets have ended Mainland’s season three of the last four years.

2. West Orange (11-1) – Warriors knocked off Apopka for the second time this season to advance to the region finals for the first time in program history.

3. Cocoa (10-2) – Tigers have put 100 points in their first two playoff games heading into a showdown this week with Miami Booker T. Washington, which has knocked the Tigers out of the postseason four years in a row.

4. Osceola (11-1) – Kowboys offense has scored 35 or more points in six of their last seven playoff games.

5. Dr. Phillips (9-3) – Panthers have won seven straight games and will host Osceola in Friday’s regional final on BHSN.

6. Apopka (*10-2) – After three consecutive state championship game appearances, Apopka’s season ended in the second round of the playoffs.

7. Lake Brantley (*11-1) – The absence of starting quarterback Jared Bernhardt (ankle injury) significantly affected the Patriots offense in a 20-0 loss to Jacksonville Mandarin.  

8. Bishop Moore (11-1) – Hornets handled Merritt Island and will host Hallandale, which knocked off two-time defending state champ American Heritage, this week.

9. Heritage (*9-3) – Panthers pushed nationally ranked Mainland to the final play in a 21-14 loss in the second round of the playoffs

10. Viera (8-4) – Hawks host tradition rich Lakeland in the region finals this Friday. Viera has two postseason wins, Lakeland has 62.

11. Orange City University (**0-10) – Joy of first ever playoff appearance was erased when Titans forfeited all of their games and were removed from the 8A bracket.  

12. Merritt Island (*8-4) – Mustangs lost in the second round of the postseason for the sixth consecutive year.

13. Palm Bay (*8-3) – Return to the postseason was short-lived for the Pirates, who got bounced by Bishop Moore 38-7 in 5A region quarterfinals.

14. Oak Ridge (*8-3) – Pioneers advanced to the playoffs for the third straight season for the first time in program history.

15. South Sumter (*8-3) – After starting the season 6-0, the Raiders lost three of their final five games and were shutout by Santa Fe in the first round of the playoffs.

16. Hagerty (*8-3) – Historic season for the Huskies included their first district title and most victories in a season. 

17. Timber Creek (*7-4) – Wolves, who lost to Apopka in the first round of the playoffs, advanced to the postseason for the ninth time in the last 10 years

18. Oviedo (*7-4) – Lions, who were awarded a playoff spot when University forfeited victories, turned the ball over twice in the fourth quarter in a 24-20 loss to Jacksonville Mandarin.

19. Edgewater (*7-4) – Eagles let a first half lead slip away against Gainesville Buchholz and were doomed by a field goal in the closing seconds. 

20. Seminole (*6-4) – ‘Noles beat Merritt Island in the regular season finale to finish above .500 for the first time since 2012.

**University was 8-2 on the field and forfeited all victories after self-reporting use of an ineligible player to the FHSAA.
